The Boulder City Hospital is an old facility that was in need of expansion to handle the growing patient base. The front door was hidden and the emergency entrance was difficult to locate. There were no amenities to the main public entrance to the hospital. Our task was to use the landscaping to provide a sense of arrival to the facility, define the front entrance and create an outdoor space that would aid in the patient recovery process. We worked closely with the architect to protect the large existing trees.

Notable aspects of this project were the creation of an outdoor courtyard, healing garden and walking path that utilized the shade from the large existing trees.  Another noteworthy aspect was the use of flowering desert adaptive plant material viewable from patient windows to aid in the healing process.
