The nationally acclaimed Alexander Dawson School is a private K-8 facility in the prestigious Summerlin development. The landscape was designed to be built in phases to accommodate the expansion of the campus. The four deserts of the Southwest are on display creating an outdoor learning center. The site was divided into four areas with each area planted with the flora of the Chihuahuan, Sonoran, Mojave and Great Basin Deserts. Stabilized decomposed granite paths connect the desert themes and provide opportunities for students to learn about the uniqueness of each desert. The main entrance is lined with formal plant rows and hedges to give a sense of grandeur.
